How to Save a Screenshot on Steam Deck

This is a quick tutorial to teach you how to take screenshots on your Steam Deck.

Take a Screenshot

In order to take a screenshot on your Steam Deck, press the Steam and R1 at the same time. A popup will tell you that the screenshot was saved successfully.

Screenshot Location

The screenshot path on your Steam Deck is based on your Steam ID followed by the the game's "App ID" on Steam. The base path is the following:

/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/userdata/{your_steam_id}/760/remote/

In that folder, your screenshots are saved into the respective game folder, which is the game's Steam ID. You can find the Steam ID:s using SteamDB.

Example

As an example to help you find your screenshots, the Steam Game ID for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is 2531310.

This gives us the following path for the screenshots captured in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on the Steam Deck:

/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/userdata/{your_steam_id}/760/remote/2531310/screenshots/

Saving Screenshots

You can navigate there manually in the Desktop Mode, or connect using an SFTP client and remotely fetch them over Wi-Fi. In order to connect to your Steam Deck using SFTP, you must first Enable SSH on Steam Deck.
